Baked Chicken Drumstick Recipes
Unlike chicken breasts which is completely white meat as they are the lean meat on a chicken, chicken drumsticks are dark meat because they are fattier. It is the muscles type of the chicken legs that make the drumsticks dark meat and because of they are slightly fattier, they tend to be juicier and more moist than chicken breasts when you bake them.
Since the meat of chicken drumsticks are generally thicker than chicken breasts quite thick, it is not surprising that they take longer to be fully cooked in the oven. The best way to check whether the drumsticks are really done is to pierce the thickest part of the meat with a sharp knife or fork. If the juice that come out run clear, you can be rest assured that they are done.
