How Long To Bake Chicken Thighs?

So how long does it take to bake chicken thighs in an oven? It all depends on what temperature and how big or thick the chicken thighs are. Generally, the higher the temperature, the faster the meat will cook and the more likely they will overcook and dry out. Similarly, baking at a lower temperature will increase the cooking time but you will have more time and chances of preventing them from overcooking.

Below is a quick guide on how long you should bake the chicken thighs:

  • At 350°F (177°C), 45 minutes
  • At 400°F (204°C), 30 minutes

It is very important that the internal temperature of the chicken thighs is at least 165°F (74°C) so that they are fully cooked and all the bacteria are killed. A quick way to check if the meats are fully cooked is to poke the largest one and check if the juices run clear. If the juices are not bloody, it is a clear sign that the meats done and safe to eat.
